Esquimalt hosting commerce, hiring fair

Chamber of Commerce last organized a commerce fair in 2004

Esquimalt businesses will be starring in an upcoming business fair, spearheaded by the Esquimalt Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber, which has 104 members from throughout Greater Victoria, last organized a commerce fair in 2004, but this time the event will have a more festive air, complete with musicians and door prizes.

"The chamber has designed this day to increase awareness and visibility of Esquimalt as a viable business centre, and showcase all that our local business community has to offer," Tania Dyck, chamber administrative assistant, wrote in a release.

Residents are invited to attend for free to peruse a number of Esquimalt industries, retail outlets and home-based businesses. The event includes a hiring fair - Seaspan Maritime Corporation and a number of other companies will participate.

The event is a unique opportunity for business owners to network with one another, Dyck said.

Businesses must register for a booth by Sept. 15. Cost is $100 for chamber members and $150 for non-members. The business fair happens Sept. 24, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, 1151 Esquimalt Rd. For info, call 250-590-2125 or email tania.dyck@esquimaltchamber.com.
