Her heart was racing when Christine Norman heard the words "go!". She had a thrilling 77 seconds to grab everything she could off the shelves at Peninsula Co-op for free.

Norman, a local mom, had her son Jake watch on as she raced out her strategy: heading down the baking aisle – "because we do a lot of baking at home" – and then grabbing some fresh meat on her way to the dairy and ice cream aisle.

After her cart was on its way to being full, she gave one good last sprint as the staff called out, "Ten seconds!" Unfortunately, she did not make it to the ice cream aisle, but she was applauded for her efforts.

"A sign of a good mom," said a Co-op employee.

With grocery prices being tough on everyone's finances lately and heading into the back-to-school season, the spree came at an opportune time.

Norman said she's been a member of Co-op for about 10 years.

"I shop at Peninsula Co-op for the great selection, great prices, and it's really close by our house and I love that we get our rewards back at the end of the year."

Once the race was over, Norman reflected on the adventure.

"It went by really fast," she said laughing. "I'm pretty excited we got about $375 worth of groceries so that will last us a bit. And we're pretty excited to start on some baking," she said, smiling.
