Music will be in the air, food on the grill and the beer will be flowing, reason enough to get out and take in some great events this weekend.
Let the music play – More than 60,000 music lovers will descend on Victoria for Rifflandia, running over the next two weekends. The festival hits Electric Avenue (Pembroke Street between Government and Store) from Sept. 7-9, featuring a host of artists including Chris Lake, Paris Hilton, A-Trak, Run The Jewels and Chromeo. Tickets start at $95 for one night, with a pass for both weekends costing $365, and are available at rifflandia.com.
Good to the bone - Esquimalt Ribfest brings a weekend of mouth-watering barbecue ribs, local entertainment, craft beer, ride and wine, free kids’ activities, local arts and vendors to Bullen Park Sept. 8 to 10. Admission is free or by donation to the Esquimalt Fire Fighters’ Charitable Foundation.
Community comes together – The One Day celebrates the diversity in our community with a free, family-oriented event at Topaz Park Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The kickoff for Community Living Month offers free musical entertainment, fully accessible games and activities, bouncy castles, prizes, a sports and recreation zone and low-cost barbecue lunch and refreshments.
Pouring it on – Beer lovers can sample the products of more than 75 breweries from across Canada at the Great Canadian Beer Fest, Sept. 8 and 9 at Royal Athletic Park. Along with the search for the perfect pint, the festival features a variety of entertainment and plenty of food vendors. Tickets start at $25 for a single day and are available at victoriabeersociety.com.
Going out in style - The ReLove Market brings sustainable fashion and second-hand style to Market Square Sept. 9 and 10 from noon to 6:30 p.m. The pop-up market features local artisans, resellers of second-hand and vintage clothing, makers of sustainable fashion, beauty, home and lifestyle products.
