From toddlers taking their first swing at baseball to grandparents picking up a paddle for the first time, the Family Sport & Recreation Festival brings generations together for a day of movement, laughter, and discovery.
Now in its 14th year, the festival returns to the Pacific Institute for Sport Education (PISE) on Saturday, May 3, offering a free afternoon of hands-on activities for families across Greater Victoria.
Running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PISE on Camosun College’s Interurban campus, the event invites people of all ages and abilities to explore new ways to stay active and connected.
“It’s such a joyful day,” said Robert Bettauer, CEO of PISE. “We see families come back year after year because it’s about more than sport – it’s about connection, health, and trying something new together.”
Attendees can try out a variety of activities, from team sports like soccer and hockey to individual pursuits such as karate, swimming, and skating. The event is co-hosted by PISE and the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame.
The festival kicks off with a kids’ run around the track, which will be officially renamed the Peninsula Co-op Track.
Also on site will be food trucks and a raffle, with proceeds supporting PISE’s charitable programs.
