The works of Takao Tanabe will be featured at the Madrona Gallery in November.

Madrona Gallery: Takao Tanabe | Nov. 2-23 | 606 View St.

This exhibition surveys three of Takao Tanabe's most well-known bodies of work; West Coast, The Land, and White Series. Tanabe has helped shape the cultural landscape of Canadian art and his work is held in every major gallery across the country.

In addition to his painting, Tanabe is an accomplished printmaker, educator and tireless arts advocate. He helped establish the Governor General’s Award and the Audain Prize: two leading arts awards in the country. His philanthropy has changed the lives of many artists through the establishment of the Takao Tanabe Award.

The Avenue Gallery: Linda Wilder | Nov. 7-21 | 2184 Oak Bay Ave.

Linda Wilder presents her inaugural solo exhibition with The Avenue Gallery, Frondescence. Wilder celebrates the splendour of forests and foliage, exploring the essence of nature through bold colours and expressive forms.

Born in 1955 and raised as a "military brat," Wilder travelled extensively across Canada before finally settling in Alberta. Her creative talent was apparent from a young age, leading her to pursue her artistic destiny. She received formal training at Red Deer College in Art & Design and at the University of Calgary. She also attended numerous workshops with renowned artists.

Wilder has been painting full-time in Calgary since 2004. Her work is represented in corporate and private collections worldwide.

Using bold strokes, light, and texture, Wilder captures the mood and emotion of her surroundings with intuitive energy. While her paintings can initially appear vividly representational, a closer look reveals the subtle nuances and abstract elements that elevate and enrich her artistry.
