Calling all nature enthusiasts and inquisitive minds.

Prepare for a thrilling experience with the wonders of the natural world on Sunday, Aug. 27, as the Gorge Waterway Action Society (GWAS) is hosting its Bioblitz event in Esquimalt Gorge Park, in front of the nature house.

Brace yourselves for the event, where an immersive experience awaits. In the idyllic setting of Esquimalt Gorge Park, you will be invited to attend a captivating journey into the realm of biodiversity, fostering scientific camaraderie and unveiling ecological revelations.

The highly anticipated Bioblitz is set to take place from noon until 6 p.m., offering attendees a captivating six-hour expedition into the depths of nature’s marvels.

Under the guidance of experts in the field of Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), participants will have the special opportunity to partake in three enthralling guided nature walks. The purpose is to track and document the diverse array of species that call this place home.

Central to the event’s narrative is the utilization of the cutting-edge iNaturalist app – a technological marvel that empowers participants to seamlessly record and classify species with the swipe of a finger. This digital facet, seamlessly integrated with the terrestrial treasures of Esquimalt Gorge Park, forges an unbreakable link between modern innovation and age-old ecological wisdom.

This event is a fundraiser and participation is by donation.
