Victoria Cool Aid looks to bring in $50,000 this month to help low-income seniors and others who have experienced trauma and poverty access essential dental care.

Cool Aid provides affordable and supportive housing, emergency shelter, primary health and dental care, nutritious meals and wellness programs to more than 12,000 people annually at 20 locations in Greater Victoria.

It provides the only adult-serving, non-profit dental clinic in the Capital Region and offers compassionate, trauma-informed care to thousands of patients each year.

Last year, the Cool Aid dental clinic saw close to 5,000 patient visits and more than 25 per cent of patients are seniors. Services include fillings, diagnostics, hygiene services, root canals, extractions and dentures.

The February campaign to raise $50,000 supports its dental bursary that has helped 400 people in the last three years. For those paying out-of-pocket, Cool Aid offers a 20 per cent discount and access to the bursary.
