Retired Police Service Dog Diesel dies at the age of 14 on March 29, 2025.

Greater Victoria police officers are remembering a four-legged colleague with the death of Diesel on March 29.

The retired police service dog was 14, according to the Integrated Canine Service, which includes officers from Victoria, Saanich and Oak Bay.

“PSD Diesel had distinguished career with the Victoria Police K-9 unit,” the agency said announcing the death. “He won first overall in tracking and was a national champion in the 2015 trials.”

Diesel is credited with helping on countless arrests while working the streets with VicPD and locating multiple kilograms of drugs throughout his decorated career.

“PSD Diesel transitioned from a patrol dog to a loving family member. He spent his retirement days enjoying walks, belly rubs, fetch, and the quiet joys of a relaxing and restful home life with his handler, Const. Eric LeQuesne and his family.”
