CFB Esquimalt’s Defence on the Dock event is set to give Victoria a glimpse into military life.
The annual event will be returning to its original location in the Ogden Point Breakwater District on Sunday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., after a brief pit stop at Ship Point in the Inner Harbour last year, which was the first event held since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The family-friendly event is CFB Esquimalt’s showcase of people, ships and vehicles, as it will feature ship tours, boat rides, navy demonstrations, interactive experiences and much more.
The community will have to opportunity to meet the men and women who serve in the Canadian Armed Forces while experiencing a variety of exciting displays and demonstrations drawn from Maritime Forces and beyond.
“Defence on the Dock is the base’s opportunity to share what we do at the base, and within the Canadian Armed Forces, with the local community,” said Lt. Michelle Scott, CFB Esquimalt public affairs officer. “It’s an event we all look forward to and we hope the community enjoys engaging with us just as much as we do.”
There will be tours of ships ranging from a Halifax-class Canadian Patrol Frigate to a Maritime Coastal Defence Vessel and an Orca training craft, and rappelling demonstrations from the Naval Tactical Operations Group. The cockpit of a CF-18 fighter jet will also be on display and the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy will provide some tunes amongst many other fun activities for the whole family.
