The Downtown Victoria Business Association (DVBA) announced the successful results of Victoria’s free light spectacle, Lights of Wonder, that happened in Dec. 2023. The event’s magnetic charm had an impressive crowd of over 80,000 attendees throughout the month.

New Year’s Eve marked a crowning moment, with more than 4,000 visitors flocking to Centennial Square.

“The most recent Lights of Wonder truly added to the magic of the season. We want to thank the over 80,000 people who came downtown, enjoyed the lights, and supported our many wonderful and unique downtown businesses,” said DVBA CEO Jeff Bray. “The region’s continuing focus and support for shopping local lead to a tremendous season for our downtown.”

In 2019, DVBA came up with the idea for Lights of Wonder. After taking a break in 2020 because of a pandemic, the event has been a regular holiday draw, growing each year. Free of charge, this family-friendly event was planned to get people to come into the middle of downtown during the holiday season.

The DVBA is looking forward to an exciting couple of months in the middle of the city as the holiday season comes to an end. In January and February, there will be a lot of exciting events in the city centre.
