An evening stroll on a cold October night translated to changed lives for women fleeing violence in Greater Victoria.
Royal LePage focused fundraising efforts on women’s transition houses and intimate partner violence prevention programs in communities locally and nationally through its Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.

This year, the organization held a Night Light Walk Against Domestic Violence, with participants taking a three-kilometre route through Esquimalt – along with other walks in western Canada – to raise $27,000 in pledges for the Cridge Transition House for Women.
“At Royal LePage Coast Capital, we believe in the importance of creating safe and thriving communities for all. In particular, we stand in solidarity with the efforts to combat violence against women. Recognizing the alarming prevalence of gender-based violence, Royal LePage Coast Capital proudly supports the Cridge Transition House programs that work towards creating a safer and more equitable society,” broker-owners Sean and Natalie Burns said in a news release.

It’s far from the first time the Shelter Foundation has supported programming at The Cridge, and it’s always appreciated, said transition house manager Marlene Goley.
“These funds help in so many vital, practical ways and also send women a powerful message that there is an entire community behind them – supporting them to say no to the violence in their lives.”
