Festive light parades to light up Capital

Lights and Christmas parades to fill Greater Victoria streets from Victoria to Langford

Colder weather and shorter days are a reminder that winter is on its way – and with it comes the holiday season, lights and Christmas parades.

In Victoria, the annual Island Farms Santa Light Parade happens Nov. 29 at 5:45 to 7 p.m. The parade, full of lit up floats and marching bands, goes down Government Street, starting at Belville Street and ending at Chatham Street.

On Dec. 6 is the annual Truck Light Parade and the Greater Victoria Harbour Lighted Ship Parade. The Truck Light Parade, organized by the Island Equipment Owners Association, starts at Ogden Point at 5:45 p.m. and ends at Western Speedway in Langford between 8:15 and 8:30 p.m. There will be Mustard Seed Food Bank donation drop off points along Government Street during the parade.

The Lighted Ship Parade will be in the Victoria Inner Harbour from 4 to 9 p.m. Donations of coats, blankets, towels and toiletries will be taken for the Victoria Cool Aid Society.

In Esquimalt, the annual Christmas Parade and Light Up is on Dec. 7. at 6 p.m. It starts at the Canteen and Lyall streets and ends at the Archie Browning Sports Centre parking lot. The parade and light up is hosted by the Esquimalt Celebration of Lights committee. Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for the Rainbow Kitchen by the stage at the end of the parade route.
