Summertime in Victoria always offers a host of things to do and places to explore. If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, here are five things that might not be on your radar.

Eats and Beats Beach Party – Eats and Beats makes the move from Esquimalt Lagoon to Royal Beach in Colwood on Saturday (July 29). The food truck festival, featuring live music throughout the day, craft beer garden, street market, climbing wall, paddling, cycling and more, runs from 1 to 8 p.m. at Royal Beach Park at the corner of Metchosin and Latoria roads.

Take me out to the ballgame – The Victoria Harbourcats host the Kelowna Falcons Saturday (July 29) at Royal Athletic Park. Gates open at 5 p.m. with the first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. A fireworks celebration follows the game. Adult ticket prices start at $16.

Water Ballet – Victoria Harbour Ferry skippers showcase their abilities with a beautifully synchronized performance in the Inner Harbour. The performances run every weekend starting at 10:45 a.m. until Sept. 4.

Ginuary in July – This gin festival at St. Ann’s Academy (835 Humboldt St.) features a tasting market designed to support small, local and craft businesses. Shop at the tasting market featuring 20 different distillers and 60 varieties of alcohol that runs from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (July 29 and 30) with an all-day after party going from 1 to 9 p.m. both days. Tickets for the market start at $11.83 (non-alcoholic) and range from $84.32 for tasting tickets at the market to $105.33 for an all-day tasting and after-party.

Turtle Tales – Join a CRD Regional Parks naturalist and the Habitat Acquisition Trust in their search for signs of the western painted turtle, the only native pond turtle left in B.C. The all-ages exploration begins at 11 a.m. Sunday (July 30) at Matheson Lake Regional Park. Meet at the kiosk in the parking lot at the end of Matheson Lake Road, but please leave pets at home.
