There’s plenty happening in Sidney, Central Saanich, and North Saanich for Halloween.
Here are some highlights:
OCT. 28
The Greenglade Teen Lounge in Sidney is putting on an Extreme Halloween Party from 6-8 p.m. including scary movies, a spooky photo booth and fear factor challenges. Don’t forget your costume! Open to kids in Grades 6 to 9.
OCT. 29
Pendray’s Corn Maze is about to close for the season, but they’re going out with a bang. This Sunday is their annual Pumpkin Launch, where UVic engineers bring their trebuchet and visitors see who can launch a pumpkin the farthest. The contest is from 1-3 p.m., but launches are all day. $10 for 3 pumpkins. Look for them on West Saanich Road in North Saanich.
OCT. 31
From 4-6 p.m. on Halloween, businesses in downtown Sidney welcome trick-or-treaters. The third “Treat Street” will feature 50 treat stations up and down Beacon Avenue. Children can enter a colouring contest and win prizes from Kiddin’ Around Childrens’ Store, Tanner’s Books, Sidney Bakery and Buddies Toys. The event is organized and sponsored by the Sidney Business Improvement Area Society and Peninsula Co-op.
• The Mary Winspear Centre will also host Panorama Rec’s Spook Zone from 4-6 p.m, featuring a fish pond, inflatables, face paint and more.
• The Central Saanich Volunteer Fire Department is putting on their annual bonfire and fireworks display at Centennial Park. Starting 7:30 p.m., visitors can enjoy hot dogs, coffee, and hot chocolate by donation from the Central Saanich Lions Club. The bonfire starts at 7:30 p.m., with fireworks at 8 p.m.
• The North Saanich Fire Department also has a bonfire and fireworks display at 986 Wain Rd. There will be hot dogs, coffee and hot chocolate. Festivities begin at 5 p.m., with fireworks around 7:30 p.m.
