Black Press and Staples, in partnership with Camosun College, are proud to recognize some of the great teachers found here in the Capital Region. We asked our readers to nominate teachers who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of the students they teach.

Jean Campbell is a teacher at Victoria High School. Here’s what nominator Emily Fraser had to say about her:

“Mme. Campbell is the face of the French immersion program at Vic. High. She not only teaches, but mentors all her students from Grade 9 through to Grade 12. To say she cares for each and every student who enters her classroom is an understatement; Mme. Campbell really does love every student who has learned in her classroom.

“As a former student of Mme. Campbell I feel she had the largest impact on my life throughout high school. Without her I don’t believe I would have had such a successful school career. She is dedicated to seeing every student not only succeed, but also have pride in their success. I can’t think of a more deserving person to receive recognition for her hard work. No teacher is as dedicated to her job as Jean Campbell and I will always stand by that statement.”

Our Great Teachers special section runs in the Victoria News on June 21 with the winners and all of the Victoria and Esquimalt nominees. You can also find a story here on the ceremony at Staples in Langford, where three selected teachers were honoured as this year’s representatives.
