Two longtime contributors to Greater Victoria’s tourism economy will be honoured at Destination Greater Victoria’s annual general meeting on April 25.

Cathy Noel will receive the Miracle Award for her leadership in developing the region’s tourism sector, while Ryan Burles will receive the Life Member Award for his decades of service to the local visitor economy and community.

Noel has worked in sports and event management for more than 30 years, playing a major role in organizing races such as the Royal Victoria Marathon, TC10K and the Goddess Run. She also helped launch a charity-focused online auction platform and authored a book on nonprofit fundraising.

Burles, president and COO of Black Ball Ferry Line, began working with the company in 1981 and has overseen major upgrades to the MV Coho ferry and Victoria terminal. He is also active in the community, having served on several tourism and harbour boards.

“Their leadership has been instrumental in the growth and evolution of our community,” said Destination Greater Victoria CEO Paul Nursey.
