The facility, located at 2340 Richmond Rd., will offer families and patients a holistic healing environment, including space for patient and family counselling, hereditary counselling and medical genetics testing.

From now until Dec. 6, Peninsula Co-op – a fuel, convenience store, car wash and grocery retailer headquartered in Saanichton – will match all donations up to $100,000 to help the BC Cancer Foundation purchase and renovate a new integrated care and research pavilion in Victoria.

“Peninsula Co-op is providing the community with a unique opportunity to make a transformative impact,” William Litchfield, the BC Cancer Foundation's executive director for Vancouver Island operations, said in a news release. “Every dollar raised brings us closer to establishing a dedicated space for supportive care services that will profoundly improve the care journey for thousands of local patients and their families each year.”

Scheduled to open in 2025, the 12,000-square-foot building, located at 2340 Richmond Rd. across the street from the BC Cancer Foundation's current Victoria facilities, will offer families and patients a holistic healing environment, with space for patient and family counselling, hereditary counselling and medical genetics testing.

"We are honoured to support the BC Cancer Foundation’s campaign to bring this Integrated Care and Research Pavilion to life," Lindsay Gaudette, Peninsula Co-op's director of marketing and community relations, said in the same news release. "We believe that by coming together as a community, we can create a space that offers not just care, but hope, healing and comfort for patients and their families in our community.”

Called the Victoria Ernie and Yvonne Yakimovich Integrated Care and Research Pavilion, the centre was named after longtime BC Cancer Foundation supporters Ernie and Yvonne Yakimovich, who donated $2.5 million to this campaign two weeks ago.

The BC Cancer Foundation has less than $1 million remaining to reach this goal. Donations to help bring this facility to life can be made at bccancerfoundation.com/why-give/beyond-belief/vancouver-island/.
