PHOTOS: Best of the City celebrates local businesses in Greater Victoria

Winners and finalists voted by thousands of readers were recognized at the 30th anniversary Best of the City gala

On Aug. 7, hundreds of local businesses were celebrated at the Best of the City Awards put on by Victoria News.

"My favourite part of Best of the City is seeing the reactions from businesses at the event after they find out where they placed," said publisher Randi Page. "It is so special to be a part of bringing these great achievements to various businesses in town, whether a new business or one celebrating 50 years."

More than 122,000 votes were cast across 136 categories in this year's nominating period. The results were published in the Best of the City publication, and celebrated at the special gala, drawing attention to the winners and finalists.

"The 30th Best of the City publication and event were both amazing," Page said. "I am always warmed by the reception we receive from both various business owners and readers; in fact, I was speaking with a reader last week who collects Best of the City every year and leaves it as a coffee table magazine for friends and family who visit them here in Greater Victoria."

This year's edition certainly captured the attention of residents, with 40,000 more votes received than in 2023.

Victoria News was honoured to throw this special event for our 30th Best of the City anniversary and celebrate the businesses of Victoria that make the city so special.
