Community, businesses and service groups help get kids on the river

A handful of local kids are back home with core memories and armed with experiences to earn some badges after a trip to the Yukon.

The 5th Garry Oak Scout group spent eight days paddling and camping on the Teslin and Yukon rivers.

“The kids had a blast,” said Scout leader Keith Dodd. “We got incredible support from the Whitehorse Scout group who provided us the canoes for the trip, and dropped us off at Johnsons Crossing for the start and picked us up at Carmacs at the end. All in all it was a great trip.”

Dodd said the community, local businesses and service groups all helped cover costs to make the epic trip a reality.
