Angela Bowers is the latest recipient of a four-year scholarship, $250,000, to the University of Washington thanks to the Evans Scholarship Foundation, a prestigious award for young caddies.
The Reynolds Secondary School student is the first female Evans Scholar in Canada to receive this award and she’s the first female scholarship recipient from the Victoria Golf Club (VGC) Evans Caddie program.

Bowers has been caddying at the VGC for the past four years. In a statement, the VGC says she impressed the international selection committee with her excellent academic record, volunteering in the community and her poetry writing abilities. Bowers says she plans on studying human relations, adding this was a life-changing event for her because she would not have been able to attend university were it not for this scholarship.
