The District of Sooke is offering free firewood to non-profit organizations, which are willing to buck, split and remove logs from the public works yard.

Non-profit can use the logs to sell as firewood for fundraising.

Organizations which take part in the program need liability insurance, Work Safe, chainsaw and first aid certification. In addition, groups must have a work plan which includes number of loads, transportation of bucked wood, and time frame for removal.

Proposals can be emailed to corp@sooke.ca or fax 250-642-0541. Submission for deadline is Nov. 3 at 3 p.m.

The logs come from trees felled during the clearing of land on Lot A, along Wadams Way.
