Suzuki sends letter to his grandchildren

The Canadian environmentalist will be at the Vic Theatre on May 30 as part of the tour for his new book, Letters to My Grandchildren.

David Suzuki is coming to Victoria.

The Canadian environmentalist and host of CBC’s the Nature of Things will be at the Vic Theatre on Saturday (May 30) as part of his tour for his new book, Letters to My Grandchildren.

The presentation also includes a 30-minute film.

The screening of Windy Bay, filmed as part of The Nature of Things in the early 1980s, focuses on a topic that Suzuki still feels is just as important and relevant today.

“The Windy Bay story was broadcast in the middle of the battle over logging in Haida Gwaii. The film excited the greatest response to any story on the Nature of Things and played an important role in galvanizing Canada’s support for the Haida,” says Suzuki.

“The issues and perspectives in this great ecological success story serve as a model to be followed all over the world.”

This all-ages event will take place at 4:15 p.m., opening with the Windy Bay screening lead in to a discussion and Q&A session.

Suzuki will finish the event with a book signing. Tickets to the event are $15 and the book can be purchased at the event for $27.95.

Letters to My Grandchildren combines advice with autobiographical stories that reflect wisdom and courage that are key to learning from the past and working towards the future.

Tickets are available here.
