The largest single-day, volunteer-led event in support of breast cancer in Canada steps off Sunday at the University of Victoria.
This year, the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure celebrates 33 years of bringing hope to thousands of people across the country affected by breast cancer. Over the decades it’s become known as a vibrant and emotive event that includes survivors, those living with breast cancer, supporters, and those who have lost loved ones.
According to the Canadian Cancer Society, one in eight women face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. Funds raised through the annual Run for the Cure also helps thousands of people get to their breast cancer treatments; provides more than 3,300 wigs, headwear, and breast prostheses; and provides community and support through our peer support programs.
On Sunday (Oct. 6) residents of all ages in Greater Victoria can run or walk either 1k or 5k, in support of the breast cancer cause. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the University of Victoria, 3800 Finnerty Rd. For more information or to register visit CIBCRunForTheCure.com.
