Traffic interruptions are unavoidable as runners enjoy the scenic Oak Bay event featuring several routes this weekend.

The 17th annual Oak Bay Half Marathon, Relay, 10 km and Dairyland Kids Run is Sunday, May 28. The first participants hit the pavement at 8 a.m. with a four-hour time limit.

Last spring more than 1,500 ran and walked the roads of Oak Bay, in what organizers call a truly world-class route. All routes start and finish at Windsor Park, winding through the village, neighbourhoods and along scenic Beach Drive with ocean views. Runners enjoy full road access, which means full road closures of 30 to 90 minutes, except Newport and Oak Bay avenues which are limited to about 30 minutes.

For the start and finish Windsor from Transit to St. David will close from 6 a.m. to noon. Other closures include Windsor at Transit to Windsor at Hampshire from 7:25 to 8:35 a.m.; Windsor at Hampshire the Beach and Monterey to the finish from 8:05 to 11:05 a.m.; Beach/Monterey to Beach/Windsor from 8:10 to 10:55 a.m.; Beach/King George to Beach/Rutland from 8:20 to 10:25 a.m. and Beach/Rutland to Beach/Exeter/Lansdowne from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
