The Victoria Wine Festival has assembled a seminar lineup that showcases wines from around the world.
On Sept. 26, in addition to two public tastings showcasing more than 200 wines, participants will have an opportunity to explore wines and winemaking in more depth at three wine seminars.
Among the seminars:
The Loire: Welcome to the Garden of France at noon will look at many of the sub regions of the Loire Valley, discovering how the wines are influenced by climate, winemaking style, grape variety and complimentary food pairings. Each of the six wines will be distinctly different, appealing to a broad range of palates.
Jane Ferrari from Yalumba at 2:30 p.m. Ferrari is one of the industry’s most informative presenters, hailing from Australia’s oldest family-owned winery. A sampling of eight wines will demonstrate why Yalumba wines are famous in Australia and around the world.
Australia vs California, a Comparison of Two Hemispheres at 6 p.m. Eight wines will represent the ultimate expression of each region’s unique terroir and micro climate. Although worlds apart geographically, attendees will be surprised at how stylistically similarly the two wine regions treat some varietals.
Seminars are $25 each and limited tickets are available online at vicwf.com and at Discovery Coffee locations.
Wine festival tastings run 3:30 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. During tastings, participants will choose from more than 200 wines from throughout the world in a grand tasting style. Appetizers will be served. Tasting tickets are $75 each.
The Victoria Wine Festival is at Parkside Resort, 810 Humboldt St. Tickets are available online at vicwf.com, in person at Discovery Coffee.
