It was Lou Rawls who characterized music as the greatest communication form in the world.
If that’s true, then Victoria’s voice of the people, Vox Humana, may be one of the city’s most prolific communicators of passion and beauty through song. Since its founding in 2002, the mixed voice ensemble has established itself as Victoria’s premier chamber choir.
Its core group of 25 singers includes advanced students and professional musicians who come together for a concert season that runs from September to June and presents six to eight different programs to the public.
With the 2017-18 season fast approaching, Vox Humana is now auditioning singers to become a part of this amazing group. While there is no age restriction for the group, applicants should possess a high level of musicianship, strong sight-reading skills, vocal technique and flexibility and a desire to be challenged in an ensemble environment.
The audition will include a brief interview, range test and sight-reading evaluation. No prepared piece is required. Vox Humana does require a full commitment to their rehearsal and performance schedule (practices tend to be Monday evenings), but promises a unique opportunity to entertain through song in a professionally challenging and unrivalled musical environment.
Those interested in auditioning should email info@voxhumanachoir.ca to provide a personal musical resume and book a time. Auditions will take place through June 2017 and later in the summer as needed.
