Ladysmith Arts is now accepting applications for the 27th annual Arts on the Avenue Festival, set to take place on August 24, 2025 along the town's historic First Avenue. The arts council’s largest juried festival, the event celebrates a diverse range of artistic expressions.
An art collector’s dream, Arts on the Avenue transforms First Avenue into a vibrant open-air market, featuring original works including paintings, jewellery, fabric art and carvings. Visitors can browse the tents, meet the artists, and enjoy live music. There is also a kids' art space where young artists can craft their own unique pieces to take home. The market runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on festival day.
Artists interested in participating can submit their applications before Feb. 28. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and space is limited. New applicants must provide samples of the work they intend to sell, which will undergo a juried selection process. Returning artists who are not juried must submit photos of their work for promotional use.
Artists can apply via the online application on the Arts on the Avenue website.
To assist artists with the online application process, the council is offering technical support sessions on Thursday, Feb. 6 and Thursday, Feb. 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. Appointments are approximately 15 to 20 minutes long. To book a session, email media@ladysmitharts.ca. An email detailing what to bring will be sent prior to the appointment.
Musicians interested in performing at the festival are also welcome to apply by filling out the application form available online.
