Organizers officially pulled the plug on the popular Capital Regional Comic Con that last ran in 2022.

After announcing a hiatus in 2023, the organization officially announced it would not return in a social media post Nov. 26.

“Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding while we were on an extended break. After much discussion over the past year, we sadly announce that we do not have any future plans for another convention. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your support over the years and to our wonderful community, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, guests, and everyone who helped make this event so magical,” the post reads.

The nonprofit Capital City Comic Con held its first convention in 2018 and its last in 2022.

“We are proud to have put on three wonderful conventions, and we will cherish the memories created. We will be having a big sale to sell the remaining merchandise soon for anyone interested,” the post said.

The news is described as "heartbreaking" for many weighing in online, some who lamented the loss.

"It was so much fun. A great event for grandparents of teens to have a connection!" one commenter said.

"Very sad about this. The best little con I’d ever been to and the artists and vendors were so unique. I bought things there I couldn’t find anywhere else! Tragic."

Some saw the opportunity to remind folks to support the other regional convention – Island FanCon, set for March 28 to 30, 2025 in Langford.
