Free music lessons and concert Sept. 7

Acclaimed children’s songwriter, actor and storyteller Rick Scott to perform

Victoria Conservatory of Music, one of the largest and music schools in Canada, is hosting a community party/open house on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 900 Johnson St..

The VCM will open its doors and invite the community to a fun and unique day of music exploration.  An afternoon highlight will feature a free children’s concert by acclaimed children’s performer, songwriter, storyteller and actor, Rick Scott.

“We are pleased to be offering more diverse programming than ever before,” said Jane Butler McGregor, CEO Victoria Conservatory of Music. “For those who have always wanted to learn any aspect of music, we have a myriad of classes to choose from. We are known for providing outstanding academic instruction to all ages and abilities.

"We are proud to have students as young as four months, seniors at 92 and every age in between. It’s our goal to provide an exceptional music experience and education to everyone. We encourage the community to come out and join in on all the excitement on Saturday.”

The nationally recognized school is offering free student concerts, mini music lessons, children’s instrument petting zoo along with food trucks, beverages, musical goodie bags and lots of delightful family activities.
