This home tour has its heart in the right place.
The third annual Holiday Home Tour at Bear Mountain Resort Community is all about helping those who are less fortunate, explained organizer Cindy Scott.
“We’re doing a tour of six beautiful homes on Bear Mountain as a way for the building community to give to the most vulnerable in our city,” she said.
Scott, the owner of KC Custom Designs, said she is more impressed each year by how builders, trades persons and suppliers step up to make the event more successful than the year before. All proceeds from the event go to Our Place, the Goldstream Food Bank and the Mustard Seed Food Bank and Street Church.
Ecoasis, which manages the resort, and local businesses were quick to jump on board with the idea, Scott noted. Organizers set a goal of $10,000 for the first year, which raised $16,000.
Last year’s goal of $20,000 was surpassed as well to the tune of more than $27,000.
“We hope to do even better this year,” Scott noted. “The support from local businesses and the community has been phenomenal. The six homes on the tour this year are amazing. We couldn’t do it without these people opening up their homes for the tour.”
The event takes place this Saturday, Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., starting with a champagne reception in the penthouse at the Westin Bear Mountain Resort. Tours by shuttle bus leave every 30 minutes. Participants can also pick up a map and take a self-guided tour through the homes at their leisure. Tickets cost $25, and can be purchased at the Westin, local RBC branches, the Market on Millstream, the Market on Yates, and online at victoriaholidayhometour.ca.
