Greater Victoria residents and beyond can prepare for an entertaining twist on classical ballet as a unique group brings their one-of-a-kind performance to Victoria next month.

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, an all-male comic ballet company based in New York, will return to the Royal Theatre on Feb. 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Their program will feature highlights from the company’s repertoire, including Swan Lake, Pas de deux, Yes, Virginia, Another Piano Ballet, Dying Swan, Valpurgeyeva Noch (Walp), and Irish Encore.

The tour began last month in New York and celebrates the troupe’s evolution from small performances in off-off-Broadway venues in 1974 to a globally recognized ballet company that has performed in 43 countries and 667 cities.

Known as "the Trocks," the company blends classical ballet with humour, reinterpreting traditional gender roles in a playful yet polished parody. Their performances appeal to audiences ranging from ballet enthusiasts to newcomers.

Tickets are available through the Royal and McPherson Box Office by phone at 250-386-6121 or online at DanceVictoria.com.
