PHOTOS: Iconic Victoria Day Parade returns for its 125th year

The parade saw about 100 entries this year

Thousands lined up on Victoria’s Douglas Street for the capital’s signature spring celebration on May 19.

The 125th Victoria Day Parade took over the downtown street, with the procession kicking off at 9 a.m. near Mayfair Mall.

Over the following hours, thousands of participants, floats, and entertainers made their way to the parade's finish line at Douglas and Courtney streets.

After the parade, the festivities continued in Centennial Square with live music, food trucks, and local artisans until 5 p.m.

Victoria Day is a federal Canadian public holiday observed on the last Monday preceding May 25 to honour Queen Victoria,  known as the "Mother of Confederation".
