Two-time Juno-Award winner Aysanabee will bring his first-ever headlining tour, The Way We’re Born Tour, to Vancouver Island this fall.
Oji-Cree artist Aysanabee (pronounced Ace-in-abbey) has already built a strong reputation in Canada and internationally. Having supported artists like Allison Russell and Dan Mangan, and performed at prominent global festivals, Aysanabee now takes the stage on his own, according to a media release from the Tidemark Theatre. His tour will share his deeply personal music and storytelling from his upcoming sophomore album, Edge Of The Earth, set for release on June 20, 2025.
Known for hit singles, such as Nomads, We Were Here, Somebody Else, and Edge of the Earth, Aysanabee’s music blends alternative and indie styles, resonating with listeners across various genres. His unique sound has earned him comparisons to artists, like Hozier and Kings of Leon.
Hailing from the Sandy Lake First Nation in Northwestern Ontario, Aysanabee’s journey as an artist has been shaped by his cultural heritage and personal experiences, notes the release. He gained widespread recognition in March 2024, becoming the first Indigenous artist to win the JUNO Award for Alternative Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year for his EP, Here and Now. His debut album, Watin, was shortlisted for the 2023 Polaris Music Prize.
Since 2021, Aysanabee has performed over 300 shows across Canada and globally, including appearances at festivals like the Reeperbahn Festival in Germany, the U.K.'s Great Escape, and SXSW Sydney in Australia.
Aysanabee will play Victoria on Nov . 15 and Campbell River on Nov. 17. More information is available here.
