On August 31, cover bands of David Bowie, Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), Tom Petty, the Tragically Hip and a 100-person choir singing classic rock songs will grace Starlight Stadium.
"We have got some of the best tribute acts this side of the country," said Dylan Stone, co-founder of Cascadia Concerts, the company behind Langford Rocks.
Four of the cover bands are Completely Creedence (CCR) A Night of Bowie (David Bowie), Mary Jane's Last Dance (Tom Petty) and the Victoria Rock Opera.
"The idea was to create an old-school music festival with some of the acts and music we love."
It will be the first time Stone and his business partner, Albert Berns, have organized a festival, but they hope to see Langford Rocks grow.
"The festival is in the plaza side of the stadium, which is on the outer perimeter," Stone said. "If we are successful this year, we are going to move it into the stadium for next year."
Stone said the festival will be a full-day event that opens at 1 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m.
Parking will be available around Starlight Stadium but festival-goers are advised to take public transit or walk if they can.
The whole area where the festival will be is licensed and drinks will be available at the concession stand.
"We are going to set up a few extra activation centres so people don't have to leave the concert zone to get a drink," Stone said.
Tickets are free for toddlers under two, $24.99 for 12 and under, $59.99 for general admission and $99.99 for VIP.
Stone said these events usually take about six months to plan, but with their festival, they only have a two-month window to plan everything out.
"Considering the the time frame we're working with, we are pretty happy wit how things are now."
