Whether you’re planning a stay-cation or just on the hunt for something fun to do with the family this upcoming weekend, the Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown event has something for everyone.

Taking place Feb. 22 to 24 and March 1 to 3, locals can enjoy all the amazing activities and attractions Greater Victoria has to offer for and spend a lot less than an actual tourist.

Greater Victoria residents can purchase a VIP pass for $15 at any Save-On-Foods location, the Victoria Visitor Centre or the Bay Centre, which allows them to access 50 attractions either for free or at a discounted rate.

“It’s a great offer, we’re going to have over $700 in value for people with the VIP card, so I hope people go out there and take part and be a tourist in Victoria,” said Chido Chinyani, co-ordinator for Attractions Victoria.

Some of the attractions offered through the VIP pas include free entry to the Butchart Gardens and the Butterfly Gardens, free tours at the Friends of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, free admission to the new Lego exhibit at the Sidney Museum along with many other offers.

Residents only need to buy the VIP card once to participate in both weekends.

“It’s a lot, it’s 50 offers so definitely I like to think that there’s something for everybody in there,” said Chinyani.
