The world-famous romance of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is unfolding at the Union Club of B.C. this week – but no, you won’t be able to spot the real royal couple around town.

Scenes for the Lifetime movie: Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal (sequel to Meghan & Harry: A Royal Romance) are being filmed in the club’s library. While most of the filming took place in Vancouver, Victoria’s Union Club offered a historic and “queenly” backdrop needed for some scenes, said the club’s general manager David Hammonds.

Starring Tiffany Marie Smith of Supernatural and Charlie Field of Genius, the sequel continues the love story of the prince and American actress.

According to a press release from Lifetime, the film pulls “back the curtain to reveal the untold joys and challenges of life inside the royal family during their pivotal year of marriage… Harry and Meghan’s core values are put to the test as they try to find the balance between honoring Royal tradition and staying true to their beliefs.”

Hammonds says the film is the third to shoot scenes at the club in the last 12 months. The club was also the backdrop for Christmas Bells Are Ringing and an Emma Fielding Mystery movie.

He says each filming as been a positive experience for members and staff.

“They’ve been wonderful and respect the building very much,” said Hammonds. “The members are wonderful about it, they are quite interested in seeing what’s going on.”

The first movie was released before the couple’s wedding in May, 2018 and told the “tale behind the secret romance of the couple that has captured all of our hearts.”

Hammonds agreed, with a laugh, that the only thing more exciting than the film, would be having the real Meghan and Harry come by the club for a visit.

The crew will be filming at the Union Club from March 19-20.
