Back for its second year, The Victoria One Act Play Festival promises to inspire, challenge and entertain audiences at Belfry Theatre, from June 5-8.

“One-act plays are like short stories,” said Kurt Archer, the director of Between Words Theatre Company, in a previous interview with Black Press Media. “They have a beginning, middle and end, but they pack a punch being in a tighter time period.”

Highlighting the vibrant theatre scene in Victoria, this year’s festival has a lineup of 13 new shows in a wide range of genres.

On the roster are recent grads from the Canadian College of Performing Arts and the University of Victoria’s theatre program. Musician Russell Wellner will premiere his musical about Fairy Creek.

“After last year’s sold-out success, we’re even more excited to spotlight our local playwrights and theatre groups. The community’s support has been phenomenal, and it’s inspiring to see so much talent right here in Victoria,” Archer said in a press release.

Tickets for the Victoria One Act Play Festival are now available at betweenwords.ca.
