Sooke music lovers can celebrate this month as the Sooke Community Concert Series begins.

“I thought it would be really cool to bring a music venue vibe to the town because there isn’t a full-on music venue,” said Dylan Stone, the owner and director of Cascadia Concerts, the event organizers.

“Over the years as a performer, I ended up producing a lot of shows. It's a passion of mine to put concerts together.”

The concert series will welcome four bands to Sooke Community Hall between February and May this year.

Completely Creedence will kick off the shows Feb. 22 with a tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR).

“Led by a frontman with a powerful voice and a commanding stage presence, Completely Creedence Band delivers high-energy performances that leave audiences singing along and dancing in the aisles,” Cascadia Concerts said in their event description.

The band is made up of four longtime Vancouver Island musicians, who bring a deep passion and love for the music of CCR.

Future shows include Nautical Disaster who will cover songs from the Tragically Hip catalogue March 22, followed by Eagle Eyes and their Eagles tribute April 12, and finally, Born Reckless will bring a country show to Sooke Community Hall for the last show of the spring series May 3.

“The goal is to create a music venue vibe where people can go and rely on seeing really consistently good shows there,” said Stone.

“I just want to create a cool community space, Sooke has a cool community vibe and lots of great people so it's a chance to bring everyone together and listen to great music.”

Stone plans to keep the concert series going in the fall when he hopes to welcome new bands like BC/DC, a legendary AC/DC tribute band who’ve performed together since 1999, along with a Tom Petty tribute, and a Christmas dance with Vancouver Island's premier Beatles cover band – The Sutcliffes.

The event is set to be catered by Deli Mama's, a local group fundraising to send their kids on a school trip to Greece.

Tickets are available through Cascadiaconcerts.com and can be purchased in person at Vosino Cafe and Forbes Pharmacy in Sooke.
