Coda moved into the space above Hermann's Jazz earlier this year.

A night of all-ages fundraising fun at The Coda next week will support a local high school jazz program.

On April 8, the View Street music venue will usher in music lovers for a night of jazz, performed by one of the longest-running ensembles in Greater Victoria – the Bayside Big Band. The group will be joined on stage by 20 music students from Stelly's Secondary.

From traditional swing to Latin to rock tunes, the young musicians play about five concerts a year in and around the community, but this will be the first time they've jammed out at the Coda.

A portion of proceeds will support Stelly's jazz program.

“When these bands approached the club, we knew we had to make it happen, and are working hard to give the kids an experience they won’t forget – with professional sound and lighting, 'Grammy-winning artist treatment' and even a special mocktail menu," Coda's co-owner Christina Morrison said in a news release.

The venue's other co-owner, Al Smith, was a member of Stelly's jazz band.

Tickets are $15 and the all-ages show runs 7-9 p.m. For more information about the event, visit: gotothecoda.com.
