Bema Productions is bringing Rite of Passage to Victoria, a play about family, grief, and coming of age.

The story follows Harold, a young boy preparing for his Bar Mitzvah while grappling with a family secret. His mother has suddenly disappeared, and his father struggles with whether to reveal the truth to his autistic son. The play explores their journey through loss as they rebuild their family with love and humour.

Directed by Zelda Dean, the production features Jennifer Bayne, Steve Eastman, Alf Small, Lindsay Toutant, and Jesse Wilson.

Performances run at Congregation Emanu-El Synagogue’s Black Box Theatre (1461 Blanshard St.) from March 19 to 30. Tickets are $30 and available at ticketowl.io/riteofpassage.
