On Sunday, July 7, West Shore RCMP traffic unit officers impounded a Dodge Ram after observing the driver going 72km/h over the posted speed limit on the Veterans Memorial Parkway.
At around 10:30 p.m., the truck passed the RCMP vehicle near Colwood and the police laser indicated that the vehicle was travelling at 132 km/hr in 60 km/hr zone.
After being pulled over, police say the 37-year-old male driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was directed to provide breath samples into a screening device. He provided two fail samples, confirming the driver to be over the legal limit of alcohol.
The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver was issued a 90-day roadside driving prohibition. Additionally, he was given a $483 violation ticket for excessive speeding and he is responsible for all towing and impound costs.
