Tickets for the kind of multi-million-dollar home in Sooke people dream about are now on sale.
The 2024 VGH Millionaire Lottery tickets are on sale until midnight Jan. 10, 2025, or until tickets are sold out
Tickets give purchasers a chance to win one of 10 grand prize packages, including Surfside Yacht Suite 33C at 1000 SookePoint Place in Sooke worth more than $3 million. The 1,005-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom cliff-side suite in Sooke has an ocean view. The winner also receives a 2024 Chevy Blazer EV AWD, a 2024 Catalina 275 sailboat, and $1,435,000 cash.
The other grand prize homes are in South Surrey, Langley, Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Kelowna, Vernon, and Courtenay. The grand prize home packages are valued between $3 million and $3.3 million. Winners can also choose $2.8 million tax-free cash, the largest lottery cash prize in B.C.’s history.
The VGH Millionaire Lottery supports the Vancouver General and UBC Hospital Foundation, the leading charity investing in health-care innovation in B.C. All proceeds help fund state-of-the-art equipment, groundbreaking research, and innovative treatments offered at Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital, GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre, Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute, and Vancouver Community Health Services.
"People living in British Columbia who face serious illness or injury have the best chance of recovery thanks to our hospitals, which are equipped to tackle the most complex and rare conditions," Angela Chapman, president and chief operating officer of VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, said in a media release. "The VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation Millionaire Lottery contributes to this success as funds raised directly fuel groundbreaking research, cutting-edge technology, advanced medical equipment, and essential patient care improvements across Vancouver Coastal Health and the entire province,"
The lottery is an important contribution to ensuring that everyone in B.C. continues to receive world-class health care, she noted.
"We are profoundly grateful to our lottery supporters for empowering our exceptional researchers and medical teams with the tools and resources they need to lead in medical innovation and save lives," Chapman said.
Millionaire Lottery tickets cost $100 for two, five for $175, 10 for $300, and 25 for $600. The lottery also offers additional games, including the 50/50 PLUS lottery with a potential jackpot of up to $2.4 million, depending on ticket sales. The Daily Cash PLUS game is back as well, featuring 105 days of winning, with two winners each day, except for the final Friday, which will award one $75,000 winner, one $50,000 winner, and one $25,000 winner, bringing the total prize value to $400,000.
To encourage early ticket buying, there will be nine bonus draws in this year’s VGH Millionaire Lottery – the most ever offered – worth over $160,000 in total, and an early bird draw worth over $210,000. Forty winners will receive $1,000 each, 20 winners will receive $500 each, and one winner of the early bird draw will get to choose between a 2024 Audi e-tron Sportback or 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Preferred LR, a private jet travel experience from Travel Best Bets plus $20,000 cash, or $125,000 cash.
