The Town of Sidney is appealing to the public for information after two incidents of vandalism and theft targeted trees in local parks.

On Tuesday, June 4, officials reported that a red oak tree was stolen from Philip Brethour Park, while an Armstrong maple in Rathdown Park was vandalized, its bark stripped and peeled to the ground, which may cause long term damage to the tree.

Town officials expressed disappointment, emphasizing the importance of trees for the community's shade and aesthetic appeal.

They urged anyone with information regarding these incidents to contact the Town of Sidney at 250-656-1184 or admin@sidney.ca.
