Tea and Symphony will be held Feb. 16 at Sooke Community Hall.

The ever-popular Tea and Symphony concert in Sooke is set to return next month.

Sooke’s music community and beyond can gather to hear Yariv Aloni and the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra come together to deliver musical works by Mozart and Tchaikovsky.

Aloni is known throughout Greater Victoria and beyond for his work as the director of the Victoria Chamber Orchestra, the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra and the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra. His work as a violinist has taken him around the world with the Penderecki String Quartet and the Aviv Piano Quartet, and includes performances at Carnegie Hall, the Lincon Center and the Louvre.

The annual high tea event is the philharmonic’s premier fundraiser. This year it will be catered by the District of Sooke Lionesses, who will provide a large variety of sweet and savory snacks along with coffee and tea.

Aloni and his orchestra will be joined by recent University of Victoria graduate and cellist Caitlyn Liu. Liu will perform Tchaikovsk’s Variations on a Rococo Theme and Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito Overture, concluding the performance with Symphony No. 35 — Haffner.

“Both works are quintessential Mozart at his sparkling, lively best,” The Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus highlighted in a press release.

The event will be held on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2:30 p.m. in the Sooke Community Hall. “Tickets sell out quickly for this popular event” and may be purchased at Sookephil.ca or at the Sooke Pharmasave as of Feb. 1.
