Two of British Columbia's most popular cities – its capital Victoria and its financial capital Vancouver – are also two of the most popular in the world.
That's according to Conde Nast Traveler, which named the twin Westcoast metros to its 'Best Cities in the World' list for 2015. The rankings, published last week, were determined by the magazine's readers – Victoria finished 24th and Vancouver 19th.
"Seaport Vancouver has a competitive and creative arts scene, rugged natural beauty and no shortage of things to do," CN said. "As one of Canada's most ethnically diverse cities, it's also one of the country's best food cities."
Suggested activities for Vancouver included a ride up Grouse Mountain's cable car, plus eating at either Vij's, the Tan Tan Cafe, Delicatessen, and/or Anoush.
For Victoria, the mag writes:
"As a former British colony, Victoria retains stately mansions and picturesque gardens perfect for walking and gazing. Its mild climate and location on the southern end of Vancouver Island also make it an excellent location for outdoor activities, too."
Recommended tourist takes for the B.C. capital include a kayak tour of the Harbour and a visit to Ogden Point Breakwater.
Florence took top honours as the best city in the world to travel to, finishing ahead of Budapest, Vienna, Sydney, and Paris (in that order).
Quebec City came 23rd, and was the only other Canadian city to place.
