A warning in sidewalk chalk cautions locals against swimming at Banfield Park July 31.

Just in time for the long weekend, three popular Greater Victoria watering holes have been deemed safe again by Island Health.

Advisories for Langford Lake, Esquimalt Lagoon and Banfield Park dock were lifted by the authority Aug. 1.

It was a short stint under advisory for Banfield Park dock, which made the list July 30 with sewage discharge listed as the reason. The City of Victoria confirmed there was a leak Wednesday, with signage erected the same day.

For two days, a city sewer intermittently pumped sewage into the waterway before it was discovered and reported.

The health risk stemmed from an unforeseen issue with a bypass installed to allow the Capital Regional District (CRD) and Victoria to work on underground infrastructure.

The removal of Langford Lake from the list means there are no beach advisories currently in effect in the City of Langford.

Langford Lake at its Leigh Road location was originally put under advisory on July 23, because of levels of E. coli.

An advisory for Langford's Glen Lake was lifted July 31.

Other advisories remain in place for Thetis Lake Beach, Prior Lake, Elk Lake, Ross Bay Beach and Beaver Lake.
