Police are looking for a suspect involved in an alleged purse theft on Nov. 8 that left a 59-year-old woman injured.

The woman was walking toward her vehicle in the 1900 block of Douglas Street when the suspect approached her from behind and grabbed her purse, Victoria police said on Tuesday (Nov. 14).

“The victim was pulled to the ground and dragged a short distance causing non-life-threatening injuries to her head, knees and wrist,” VicPD said, adding bystanders in the area came to the woman’s aid.

The suspect then reportedly ran away with the woman’s purse and was last seen boarding a transit bus. The around 40-year-old suspect is described as between 6’ and 6’3” tall with a medium build, partially balding red-brown hair and a large beard.

Anyone with information about the incident, the suspect or their whereabouts is asked to call the E-Comm Report Desk at 250-995-7654 extension 1, or report anonymously by calling Greater Victoria Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
