66-year-old arrested for assault that leaves 2 injured in Oak Bay

A 66-year-old man was arrested following an assault on the 1700 block of Elgin Road.

Oak Bay Police report a man was punched several times in the back of the head and a second victim was thrown to the ground and kicked in the head on Nov. 27.

The suspect, known to both victims, was arrested for assault and later released with conditions including having no contact with the victims.

The second victim was transported to hospital with unknown injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Video captures prowler

Oak Bay Police responded to a report of a prowler on a property on the 500 block of St. Patrick Street at 10 p.m. Nov. 30.

A resident, who was not home at the time, observed a male on their property via remote video surveillance. Police attended and located a 43-year-old male exiting the backyard of a neighbouring property. Recognizing the male from a previous incident, officers were aware he was under the conditions to not attend St. Patrick Street or enter any residential property unless invited.

Andrew James Evans was charged with trespass at night and two counts of breach of probation. He was held in custody for his next court appearance Dec. 17.
