The Victoria Police Department welcomed six new officers during a swearing-in ceremony on Jan. 9.

The move marks a step toward greater gender inclusivity within the force. Half of the new recruits are women, reflecting VicPD’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

Deputy Chief Const. Jamie McRae highlighted the importance of the milestone.

“The six recruits sworn in today bring unique skills and perspectives that will contribute to the future of the Victoria Police Department,” said McRae. “They will make a significant contribution to our community.

“We are excited to see the fresh ideas and energy you will bring, and we welcome you to the VicPD family.”

In 2024, VicPD hired 24 officers, 30 per cent of whom were women. Recruitment efforts continue, with the department encouraging individuals interested in a policing career to apply.
