B.C. Ferries cancelations continue Feb. 4.

Travellers to and from Vancouver Island may face difficulties today (Feb. 5) as several B.C. ferries' sailings remain cancelled.

The company cited mechanical difficulties with a vessel’s main engine as the cause, resulting in odd-hour cancellations between Tsawwassen (Vancouver) and Swartz Bay (Victoria) ferry terminals.

“Our engineering teams continue to investigate the issue, and we will update this Service Notice as more information becomes available,” B.C. Ferries stated on their website.

A supplementary vessel was added Tuesday to assist with traffic. The additional vessel will continue service Wednesday, Feb. 5, departing Tsawwassen at 7*, 9 11:30* a.m., 1, 4*, 5, 8:30*, 9 p.m. (* denotes a 1 hour 45-minute sailing) and departing Swartz Bay at 7, 9:15*, 11 a.m., 1:45*, 3, 6:15*, 7 and 10:30* p.m.

B.C. Ferries' customer service centre will contact those with cancelled sailings bookings to notify them if they can be fit on an alternate sailing later in the day, or if their booking has been cancelled. They have also reminded customers that alternate service is available via the Tsawwassen (Vancouver) and Duke Point (Nanaimo) routes.

Current sailing and departure information can be found on their current conditions page, BC Ferries on X, or by calling 1-888-223-3779 for additional assistance.
